after a year of  'mandom' static life.... pian decided to cordinate 'tapau 2 gunung' project.... Mount Datuk which is located @Rembau n Mount Angsi @Ulu Bendul..... onli 'gang' members from Pahang (pizal, hafidz, bas, soki, jue, ghah n mat yie....) n pian who organized the trips.... set Bera, suri n his beloved tent mate lin,  went to Krabi, for their countless annual honeymoon..... while mat rudy, had mountain bike training (mtb) near his hometown, but expected to climb Angsi tomorrow....... at the mean time, set Dabong regretfuli abstained the hike due to several reasons... (pok leh stil takes his time recoveri from mtb accident... n awie had niece 'big work' (literali means wedding ceromoni)...... we actuali plan quite sometime hiking Gunung Datuk... but time seems so limited..... her! her!

0800 a.m.:
 

arrived at Kampung Batang Nyamor.... then straight away to Hutan Lipur Gunung Datuk via google maps ... took us straight to parking area @Hutan Lipur Gunung Datuk .... mani hikers today so the parking was quite ful.... those late comers need to park by road side... way down form here..... then need to have warm up walk to this starting points.... after some toileting n warming up.... the hike began.... firstli, need to cross shallow river... then reached permit counter, forestri department of Negeri Sembilan... stopped there since the counter stil close.... several regular hikers assured us it was ok to climb first n pay the permit during coming down.... so we proceeded....

the hiking trail plan to summit says onli 2 hours.... n approximateli 2 km on flat ground distance..... but, we know better.... her! her!..... about the route, it was +-700 m rocki trail surface.... then +-200 m to the resting area.... we had lot of jokes sarcasming each other all the way to this break point 1 (BP1).... the topics included giving names to our gang members.... such as 'garam' (salt) cramp hikerz, sembang (brag) hikerz n even 'sembang garam' (brag salt cramp) hikerz..... har! har! har!

from BP1, almost 700 m hiked the more than 30 degrees steep trail ... a lot of taking five session required.... but the garam specialist stunned us today... with fast agile movement leaving us behind... such like the 8th wonder of the world emerged becoming apparent n revealed the first time ever... (pian, this is a compliment!... har! har! coz this entri published after  a wonderful delicious sponsored lunch daging salai (smoked beef) masak lemak cili api...her! her!)

at the mean time, our ladies (jue n ghah) as usual swiftli gracefuli doing the climb ahead of us.... the 24 hour radio mat yie entertained hafidz about how quickli he can hike IF supported with adjustable aluminium hiking stick n right shoes... (maybe he knows that today....sport direct doing the sale on hiking items!!)...... then, for about 400 m, we had to moved slowli upward due to long line of traffic hikerz coming down from summit.... those sunrise hikerz went up as earli as 4 oclock to catch the sun...

1115 a.m.:

we reached Mount Datuk summit..... mani groups arrived earlier began climbing down..... @summit... saw no sign of pian, the project manager..... maybe climbing alreadi up on the stone peak... rejuvenating under sunbeam n fresh cool air.... her! her! without hesitation.... climbed the newli sturdi aluminium scaffold (saw the old ladder set a side in the picture below..) ...got to be veri careful with the kids....

on the peak rock, could see 360 degree surrounding view.... spent about half an hour enjoying sceneri... one hiker doing drone photo shooting.... everione cheered whenever the drone close shot... hope to watch in youtube some time near future.... whenever drone owner uploaded on the internet... her! her! stil no sight of our glorious project leader... har! har! then, stepped down the rock... back to the summit...

1230 p.m.:

starting going down the hill... had misstep on slick mosty rock.... thankfuli got no injuri.... the switched off radio boy n the girls not far at the front... we continued slow descending until permit counter... paid the permit to the friendli rangers... n asked few more info about the mountain for future hike...

1440 p.m:
 

arrived @parking area... staright away to the canteen.... feel like drinking coke or coconut juice at the moment... her! her! ordered some eatables... n some more beverages.... started discussing tomorrows hike @Angsi with 8:00 a.m. promised agreement..... after joking around for quite some time.... taking gang photo @keris monument before  separate @15:30 p.m.

driving back home on north south expressway after some office business @Jitra... saw Mountain Jerai on the right side window view.... as far as remembered, never even once go up the mountain during five years stay Kedah.... so, took exit gurun, followed sign boards to Gunung Jerai....

all regular gang members are back again...... set (team) Dabong; abe awie, abe bust, jemi, pok leh, mat din, daniel toke pare, afiq n mat yie plus 1 new comer, radi..... set Pahang; pizal, bra, bas, yusz, pendi, amir misai, sikin, pian n achik reza, plus 'tribe' Bera; suri ganu kite, soki, rudi, lin n jue..... n badd from Putrajaya.... kak faridah from nogori 9 with her new facebook friend, dido jungle..... the coordinator for the program was abe awie al dabongi wal bachoki...... the onli absent was abe aji hafidz dee zack, stil recuperating from heart surgeri..... her! her! it was quite heavi raining in Kg Jabi...... earlier arival was suri n his tent mate... lin.... had dinner @sofie restaurant while waiting for other late arivals.... then, verdict came out from short discussion about changing lodging for the nite.... all agreed to have 1 nite stay @homestays.... earlier plan was to stay @dewan serbaguna Hutan Lipur Belatan..... by 2 a.m., kak faridah n dido jungle arrived...... as sikin acted as their whats apps navigator....

830:

the following morning, breakfast was actuali packed n prepared alreadi @Lata Belatan.... which was 5 km onli from homestays..... where we suppose to to lodge last nite.... but, suri had asked for the need of a quick tea time before going there.... then, the 'feast' began.... nasi 'kapik' (himpit), nasi dagang, nasik lemak, kuih muih, n also new menu nasi berlauk itek 'sekati'.... har! har!... luckili, program manager berated us onli a little.... her! her!

 

922:

 

we were introduced to a handsome young guide for today's hike @permit counter starting point.... mohd afiq aifaq bin mohd junal aka epak, along his senior pok nik briefed us about the ±8 km trek n all to expect..... the hike will have 4 checkpoints; Sg Cakah 2, Batu Mat Hasan, last water point n peak.... the briefing was concluded with a prayer led by abe awie himself.... after paying all the entrance fees..... most gang members hastili pick up phones to selfieng @the park entrance.... signalling the beginning of the journey.....

950:

 

the route take us through canopi walk @entrance to the Lata Belatan campsite.... there was cement trek up until waterfal... then, the jungle trail began.... the trail led us 2 times crossing the river.... need to hop reali warili on slipperi rocki stones..... across the river, jungle trail continued again.... after 3 log crossing over the streams.... saw our 1 st stop Sungai Cakah 2.... the should be short stop eventuali became long supper stop!!! our set turbo hikers; mat din, najmi n rudi managed to have nasi lemak for their 2 nd breakfast..... dido jungle took a nap for a while, in effort to rejuvenate last nite short sleep.... epak then led the kids n gals cross another river, followed closeli by set turtle hikers...... her! her! our 2 nd check point should be @Batu Mat Hasan.... as usual, plans are made just to be broken? har! har! so, had 'lost count' check points along the trail since anyone would stop, whenever anyone feels like stopping.... her! her!...  as a results, 2 hours late arrivals than program tentative....

1415:

some had 2nd or 3rd lunch when we finali arrived the real 2nd check point @Batu Mat Hasan.... had long break..... the moment was utilized perfectli to catch a nap n lying down.... after this checkpoint, trail goes mencanak (very steep) up.... the parti then climbed slowli until Jendela Pandang which translated as viewing window.... stop a while to take pictures.... rear team took longer time resting..... after snapping pictures, proceeded slowli until 3rd checkpoint which is the last water point..... it was quite half hour hike form Jendela Pandang to water point.... someone was alreadi snoring when rear team arrived. her! her! most members went down 120 m to refil water... some took time for a bath n praying....our guide assured us from this point forward up to the peak onli 2 km in distance....

continued walking until stumbled on signboard 500 meters to peak.... no high hopes that the peak was too near guys.... it was stil long way up....her! her!

finali, rear team reached peak Mount Tebu..... the view was alreadi covered with mist... n quite windi.... earlier arrival told us epak suggested camping @camp site which is safer when raining on peak.... the rest of us were @camp site alreadi, which is about 20 minutes walk from here...

1920:

 

set up tent.... anticipated rain pouring down not veri long..... some were seen going down to water point.... cooked rice, lamb curri n omelet... just about dinner, jue sent sauci salted fish .... it was barter trade since her tent mate sikin, requires our 3 flavor fried powder.... her! her! at nite, from this site, could see boats lamps n islands... after dinner, spend time joking to each other until sleepi....

started going downhill.... it was quiet walk all the way back to starting point... about an hour later.... we passed by last water point... without stopping @Jendela Pandang until arrived @Batu Mat Hasan.... then our turbo hikerz.... mat din & mat rudy raced down the hill competing each other... followed by turbo kancil n the ladies..... we, set turtle tottering behind... after quite some time, arrived @Sg Cakah 2..... after short rest... continued hiking until Lata Belatan n starting point.....

 

Gunung Bunga Buah

Gunung Bunga Buah, Genting Highlands

original plan was to climb mount nuang with friends n kids..... but had to change to mount Bunga Buah due to unable to obtain permit from Bentong forestry..... so, decided to at least climb a mountain.... n the nearest was Bunga buah.... arrived @intersection which was @Genting Sempah mcd..... zul was alreadi waiting @Janda Baik.... had tea with shamsuri.... then drove to Goh Tong Jaya.....

got info from fellow hiker the other day that.... entrance @goh tong sports center was closed.... so cannot go in via that gate.... tried another route through old ah kow's shop but alreadi gated too.... then, an old Chinese aunti told us about another entrance besides restaurant @end shop lot..... forgot the restaurant name.... her! her!.... after politeli asked an uncle there (it  is a private land, need the owner approval...thanks to an anonymous reader who remind me this.... ) we moved in n found new made route.....

 

after few minutes walking.... lost trek sight.... shamsuri began to 'bulldozed' our way up.... made new trail seems the best choice.... but need to be cautious though as many bamboos as well as thorns... it was quite veri sweati job.... about an hour, found 'tissue' marking left by earli hikers...... follow the marking to a veri steep climb.......until.... finali, reached an old gravel road...... peeehhhhh!!!!

after short resting.... follow the old road til... forest trail to peak... not muddi like the last time.... the kids starting to complaining about lunch.... so, told them that we will have a picnic @somewhere called rock garden... lunching while viewing sceneri..... that excuse could onli manage to quiet them for no more than 5 minutes.... n the script came up again automaticali  her! her!

reached rock garden.... the kids were veri excited.... so, had lunch..... sandwiches, biscuits... but need to be careful on this ridge especiali kids....

reached false peak.... kl view was quite bright.... once, we thought this was the peak until realized that there was no signboard... her! her!

took onli 5 minutes walk from the false peak to reach peak bunga buah..... could not linger longer @peak since this was the longest climb.... not planning to walk @nite.... her! her! after some refreshment, we began downhill......

Recce Trip

went a recce trip to this mountain.... actuali, there will be santai hiking in few weeks time.... most old gang members from CBL, Broga & Angsi will join the mission.... her! her! types of trail/ road to bunga buah mountain includes:

1. tar road

2. gravel broken tar road

3. muddi trail

4. forest trail (roots & wet sandi)

parked car @Goh Tong sport center.... bought packed nasi krabu @umbrella stall in front of thana mini market.... did warm up n stretching.... 40 minutes later, started hiking via tar road besides strawberi farm.... passing the alreadi released cross-gate.... after a while, spotted stray dogs.... mat rudy chased them away as quickli as they started barking... no sooner then, we started calling him specialist dog chaser.... her! her! after quite sometime, tar road ends.... we began walking on gravel road.... poor selected shoes will results in foot-ache......

after walking about 4.8 km on tar and gravel road... arrived @red muddi trail... started climbing... made a slip n 'touch down" few times like nangka busuk.... the onli song came to mind was "u r not alone" by michael jackson... her! her! har! har! after 20-30 minutes "two n four wheeling", came to standard root and sandi forest trail... this kind of trail goes straight to the summit....

about 40 minutes later, reached @last water point.... need to walk steep downhill 100 m to get water @stream ........ went down to take pictures for this blog...... quite plenti of water after raining last night..... took a rest for 15 minutes catching breath after climbing back to the trail.... yup! stomach beginning to poignant soundli....

hiking on the sandi roots trail quite sloppi...... arrived @rock garden... thinking out loud myself... that how this came to its name.... mat rudy answered blatantli... see all rocks here forming gardenlike.... her! her!.... this rock garden has nice mountains sceneri spot to snap pictures.... took short break.... made few pose including climbing bonsai (watch out fellas!!).... mat rudy pose with jalur gemilang that somebodi put there months earlier....

from rock garden, about 45 minutes hike to peak.... even me n mat rudy fooled @one false peak..... her! her! thinking about hungrines.... we preapared ourself for lunch.... just about to eat, we noticed that there was no marking around.... no signboards, labeled plate whatsoever.... decided to continue n after 10 minutes stroll, we arrived @metal trig point called 'bay route' which marked gunung Bunga Buah summit with dangling signboards....
