KLIA - Miri (2h15mnt)

took erl from Putrajaya to KLIA for 1st time actuali. used to park car @KLIA in covered parking whenever flying. checked in imperial hotel Miri as suggested by a friend. veri nice hotel in the same building with shopping center. tgv never escape my eyes as movie enthusiast... her! her! stayed with tom cruise in mission impossible: rogue nation. right after mission completed, ronda2 north yu seng road where restoran muara branch: "the founder of lalapan" located (200m from hotel). thought that this restaurant must be hot spot in town with full customers... even heard slang spoken from peninsular. here are some house menus...

Miri - Marudi (2h)

after second thought, decided go to marudi via land.... by toyota hilux. discovered earlier that boating to marudi seldom used anymore due to lack of taxi @ muara baram as well passengers, since road building (former timber trail) to marudi (told later by locals, that 'tar sprayed trail road" was very expensive!). about 40 mnt driving miri - bintulu road, turn left trail to marudi before lambir national park..... need to drive reali careful to avoid 'millions' road craters. after crossing sg arang bridge (once was ferrI point), it was 30 mnt drive before reaching batang baram river ferrI cross near kg ridan... cost a car rm1 ferrI toll. just then, rain started. continued driving until crossroads kg baru... saw kg dagang big mosque on the right. took left turn to small town of marudi. checked in mayland hotel, just above baram education office..... rain welcomes me there.....

waited for rain to subside, then walked and recce marudi town... quickly found banks n halal restaurants some not shown on google maps..... as listed below (all within walking distance):

banks:

1. public bank
2. rhb bank
3. bsn
4. bank rakyat (atm only)

restaurants:

1. restoran hj ismail
 besides grand hotel (breakfast/lunch)
2. restoran muqhriz
opposites public bank (breakfast/ lunch)
3. nakhoda cafe @ kg dagang -open evening
while 'tea-ing' @ restoran muqhriz saw monument just 100m on the hill..... later, found out it is hose fort muzium where king brooks of sarawak held regatta in attempt to end tribal blood feud.... back to hotel n had good nite rest n facebooking....

Marudi

following morning, had mi kolok for breakfast (became my everyday breakfast... he! he!). started exploring marudi.... visited the museum.... spend time reading interesting historI of marudi.... walked to kg narum, kg baru n kg dagang..... all village clustered in one are by batang baram.... continued to airport n completed 1 circuit walking around padang terbang marudi (mini airport of marudi).... which also locals jogging trek... drove around to ibanez village @ kg sg brit n kg lubok nibong took almost 2 hours return trip..... it was durian seasons.... ask an ibanez guy to buy 4 durians but got 4 for free.... he! he! tqvm. dinner @ nakhoda café... saw customers of multi races in joyful harmonI; talking, laughing, joking with each other.... original 1 Malaysia...... got to share table with two guys n had delicious chicken lalapan.....

Marudi-Long Jeeh (8 hr)

next day, after having mi kolok, drove to kg long jeeh located @ ulu baram with a friend; mr johannes to guide me... again, need to drive reali careful to avoid craters from marudi to miri - bintulu main road, then passed slip road to lambir national park....on the right... as well as tropical rain forest resort... until berkenu junction.....there is petronas  station, and Norsafia Indah Café & Catering....which sells special me kolok.....he! he! tar road was only as far as small town lapok from this junction...... after that, more than 200 km drive via timber trail (locals often refer as the company trail)...

pic: red arrows

after bypassing lapok small town, had disorder road rules... her! her! here, onlI 1 kind signboard exist as drivers reference... which was 'red arrows'... johannes then schooled me about the regulations.... prioritI left or right of the roads were given to vehicles coming from outward baram, since they usuali carri heavi loads... the red arrows show which side to take approximateli 100 m before reaching the sign.... must continue doing so... until red arrows show otherwise.... n..  alwiz give way to trailers...... luckili, brought along nasi ayam for lunch... was told earlier.... we would have picnic at natural 'rnr' after 4 hours drive @ sg paong (turned out... the best stop ever..... he! he! went for swimming in nice cool water). after 3 more hours of driving, reached kg long jeeh....a kenyah village.....rest for a night.... enjoy eating semah fish.... nyum! nyum!
